When do I need to test with a capacitive load bank?
In most industrial applications, the real load is very inductive, or reactive. Motor loads on large equipment, lots of cabling etc. To simulate that, we use resistive and inductive load banks.
Capacitive loads have become more and more popular or required with the onset of electronic or UPS loads. If your facility has high electronic load, such as a data center or UPS OEM factories, they’ll get much more involved and concerned with the capacitive load banks.
In summary, for inductive loads, you want to use inductive load banks. For electronics or UPS loads, you may want to consider using a capacitive load bank.
